Exporting an image from Revit 2012 to 3dsMax for rendering


Step 1: Create a perpective/image in Revit
1) Go to a plan view
a) Select the camera tool under the 3d view tab
b) Place camera on plan and set view angle1.png

Step 2: Set the image quality in Revit.

1) Under the view tabs select the render tool

a) Set the sun angle, lighting, exposure and image quality 2.png

Step 3: Export the image as an FBX 3.png

Step 4: Import the image in 3dsMax

1) Under the main M-3ds tab

a) Import

Step 5: Render the View

Once you have imported the file you should see the entire building in the window space

1) To go to the view you want to render type the letter ā€œCā€ and it will either go to the camera view you have imported or if you have multiple cameras set up in the file it will give you a list to select from.

2) Under the tab bar select render set up ( teapot with properties icon)

1) In this window you can edit the size and quality of the image as well as the global illumination for interior renderings
a) It is a good idea to edit the sampling quality under the Renderer tab ( similar to antialiasing in Revit) it will give you a higher quality image with less pixilation.7.png
Step 6: Render
Once you have customized your image render quality you can select the render button8.png
Image should start rendering..
